Laundromats are now Officially Essential Services

CISA adds workers in laundry services, laundromats and dry cleaners to the Essential Infrastructure Workforce List

The federal government has listed laundromat workers as part of the critical infrastructure workforce during the coronavirus (COVID-19) response. The designation was made by the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency CISA, a division of the Department of Homeland Security.

This follows efforts by the Coin Laundry Association and others in the laundry industry to have laundromats workers recognized by the federal government as part of the essential critical infrastructure workforce.

What does it mean?

Laundries, regardless of which state they are in, may remain open during the COVID-19 response. Workers in dry cleaner are also on the list.
