Eastern Funding Team Volunteers at Holy Apostles Soup Kitchen

During the National Volunteer Week, the Eastern Funding team spent this charitable week volunteering at the Holy Apostles Soup Kitchen.

It was a truly fulfilling and selfless experience for the Eastern Funding team and management. Warm and heartfelt welcomes were experienced upon arrival. The beginning started with a brief overview of the soup kitchen operation, what they did, and how they did it. After a quick tour of the church, the staff explained the roles/responsibilities at the various soup kitchen stations. Aprons, hats, and gloves awaited each volunteer at their respected station.

The Eastern Funding team were all assigned to different work stations. Some were at the front, greeting guests and handing out meal tickets. Others served food to each guest that walked by the food line. Some volunteers cleaned the tables so that it was ready for the next party of guests. While others emptied the trays into the appropriate waste bins and ran them into the kitchen for dishwashing.

One of the most impressive aspects of the soup kitchen was the Social Services area. The Social Service area provided guests with toiletries, haircut vouchers, clothing, reading glasses and so much more.

Volunteering at the Holy Apostles Soup Kitchen was such a humbling experience. Though guests who came in did not have much, they were still very grateful for the little they did have. Organizations like Holy Apostles, who provide the basic needs to people in need positively impact each and every person who walks through their door. This was seen the whole week spent volunteering at the Holy Apostles Soup Kitchen in NYC.
